PROYECTO RECIDENCIAL | SAN ISIDRO, BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA
This home is located on land overlooking the river in the Barranca de San Isidro where historic homes and country houses were developed due to their open views of the Rio de la Plata, its sky and sunrises.
We developed an elevated home that would not interrupt the clear views of the river that one has when entering the land, leaving the natural slope of San Isidro to follow its course. This decision allowed us to develop a home on a single elevated floor in direct relation to the views, leaving the natural terrain in large areas intact.
The floor plan is an organic floor plan with central and side patios that generate a perimeter which adapts to the needs of the interior spaces. By having the sun rising on the River but the sunset on the back, the patios function not only as expansions and ventilations but as subtractions that maximize the relationship with the sun while they give space for the vegetation that rises from the land to pass through the house.
In terms of materials, the house is an elevated Reinforced Concrete platform from which a fully glazed organic and abstract volume emerges. It is a “glass house”, elevated mirrors that “disappears” completely reflecting the skies and trees of San Isidro. As for the access flooring, we chose the historic cobblestone of the neighborhood in its colonial times, both for its technical characteristics of durability and for its beauty and historical reference.
